Mrs. Chiao's Visit
One very hot July day (34oC/93oF), an 81-year-old lady was moving slowly down the street in Nanning, Guangxi Province in China. She walked slowly with her walker, one step at a time. Her heart was focused on the purpose of her visit: she wanted to see the children with cerebral palsy and their families who are being served by Rainbow Missions.
Three days earlier, she had taken a flight from Seattle to Beijing by herself. She stayed in Beijing for a couple of days to see her relatives, then boarded another flight to Nanning by herself. After arriving in Nanning, she stayed at the apartment where the Rainbow Missions field workers reside. This kind and energetic lady is Mrs. Chiao.

When Mrs. Chiao arrived at the Childrenˇ¦s Development Center of Angel House, she found out that there were power and water outages in the building. About 30 parents came with their children and formed a circle. As they wiped away sweat from their brows, each parent shared with Mrs. Chiao about the joys and difficulties of having a child with cerebral palsy. For some parents, there is happiness when their children make good improvements because they can see hope. Some worry when the progress of their children is slow, and they donˇ¦t see much hope. Some parents carry the weight of pressures from their families and neighbors. Some face a lot of financial pressure. But they silently make great sacrifices only because they do not want to give up on their own children. They are the greatest parents that nobody knows. While Mrs. Chiao was listening, her heart was moved with compassion. She believed that God has His plan for each child. She was moved by the Holy Spirit to encourage them with the love of God.
On the next day, Mrs. Chiao visited a 30+ year old lady who had a serious illness 2 years ago. As a result of the illness, she lost her eyesight. Then she lost her job and idled at home. Her husband did not want to have a wife who was blind. He left her, taking their 5-year-old daughter with him. She lives alone now. This is the mission of Rainbow Missions -- to care for and love people who are deeply hurt in their hearts. Mrs. Chiao prayed together with her and hopes that God will give her strength to move on with a different life.
On the third day, Mrs. Chiao visited the Youth Development Center of Angel House. She interviewed a teenager girl and listened as the girl spoke from her heart. She had dinner with all the teenagers in the Center. After dinner, Mrs. Chiao saw the great work of Holy Spirit through the prayers of these teenagers. She could only praise and thank the Lord. All glory to Him.
