Rest in the Lord
May 22, 2011 was a very difficult day for Rainbow Missions. We lost our beloved brother Dwight Matsuda. The comfort for us is that we all know Dwight is in heaven with Jesus Christ and enjoying all the glory of God.
Dwight was born in June 1963. He passed away at 47. After Dwight accepted Christ 18 years ago, he lived a life that focused on the glory of God. He loved the Lord very much. He spent a year teaching English in Kazakhstan, and brought the love of Christ to the people there. In 2007, he joined the Rainbow Missions short term service trip to Chongqing with his girlfriend Jocelyn. He taught English to the students and teachers at the Chongqing School for the Blind and was assigned to be the English assistant for the school principal. We still remember that the principal said Dwight was the only one on our team who could eat really spicy food.
Dwight returned to school full time and graduated from an Occupational Therapy Assistant program in 2010. In 2011, he started his new career as a certified OTA working with children with disabilities. Dwight had a great servant's heart and believed that we are blessed by God in order to be a blessing to others. His goal was to use his occupational therapy skills to serve individuals with disabilities in Seattle, China, or wherever God would lead him.
While driving to work on May 5, 2011, Dwight went into cardiac arrest and remained in a coma for 17 days before going home to be with the Lord on May 22. Everyone who is connected with Rainbow Missions will always remember Dwight who loved God dearly. We won't forget his gentleness and laughter. He is a good example to us in our faith journey. May God comfort his family and friends who loved him, and may we all experience the hope of being reunited in the Lord¡¦s presence in heaven.
