Rainbow's Ministries: Rainbow Enable Ministry (REM)
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."
~ Helen Keller
An 8-year-old boy in America told his parents that he wanted
to be a doctor when he grew up. His parents were very pleased
to hear that and were ready to support him 100%. On the other
side of the globe in China, however, another boy of the same age
told his teacher that he wanted to be a lawyer when he grew up,
but the teacher said that this was impossible because he was blind.
Rainbow Enable Ministry is designed to encourage the full potentials
of the disabled in China to help them in their work, study and
daily life. The name "Enable" is chosen for this ministry to focus
on the positive abilities and talents that God has given to each
person, regardless of disability.
This enabling work in China requires us to work from many different
angles including but not limited to, pre-school education, special
education, integrated education, post-secondary education, vocational
training, job opportunity development, job placement, placement
follow-up, community awareness, assistive technology, occupational
therapy, rehabilitation counseling, disability prevention, training
the trainers, etc.
Are you a Christian and do you have a heart for the disabled
people in China? If your answer is ´Yes´, please contact us for
more information.
Current ongoing work under Rainbow Enable Ministry:
Assistive Technology Innovation Award
Rainbow Missions collaborated with Wong Ho Hung Foundation in Hong
Kong and Microsoft Corporation in the USA in this Assistive Technology
Innovation Award. Wong Ho Hung Foundation gives out scholarships
and Microsoft gives out software to college students in China who
create innovative technology for the disabled. The participating
universities include Chongqing Normal University, Chongqing University
and the University for Post and Telecommunication. It is expected
that more universities will participate in the future.

Assistive Technology Development Promotion & Consultation
Rainbow Missions provides consultation and training to universities
and organizations in China interested in developing assistive
technology. Assistive technology is being developed all over the
world to improve the quality of life of the individuals with disability;
however, these products may not be appropriate for China due to
the expense and the need to be adopted to the locale.
In addition, Peter Wong and Bosco Chan also participate in assistive
technology conferences to encourage the development of assistive
technology appropriate to China.
Individual Assistive Technology Consultancy
From time to time, individuals in China approach Rainbow Missions
when they personally have a need for assistive technology and
do not know how to go about getting it. Rainbow Missions tries
to meet this need as best as we can through assessment, consultation
and training.
Career Development
God has created each of us uniquely, and whether or not a person
is disabled, society can benefit from everyone´s input. Rainbow
Missions seeks to ensure that individuals coping with disabilities
in China can receive training and education so they can be useful
members of their community. Currently, Rainbow Missions is seeking
to install a solid infrastructure that will encourage and help
those wanting a better life to achieve it. Perhaps a blind person
would enjoy being a translator or a counselor. Or, perhaps a person
that could not be employed at a regular job could become self-employed
in creative ways. Rainbow Missions seeks to partner with other
organizations or ministries that want to help people in all walks
of life achieve their full potential.
