Speak From My Heart

Mrs. Chiao

Greetings everybody! May the Lord bring peace to you!

How many of you know our Rainbow Missions' workers? No need to raise your hands! They have not been introduced yet! Do you see a group of old, weak and frail workers? How do you see these workers? We are God's mighty workers! Not because we are mighty. We are not mighty, but because God sent us just as we are. He sent us to share God's love with everybody. We experienced God's love, it's time to give back.

There are two founders of Rainbow Missions. It all started from God touching the workers' hearts and spirits. One of them is me. How do I come in the picture? I was touched. One of the founders is Peter Wong. The co-founder, Bosco Chan along with his wife, Gloria.

Gloria has been a great helping hand in church. She is willing to help me in every occasion. She is my angel that I can call on. Gloria said to me one day, "God touched my husband and I, and we are planning to move to Nanning, China." My angel is leaving me. What is she going to do there? She told me, "We are going there to serve the blind, disabled, underprivileged orphans, children, and adults." God led them see the need in China and they want to help serve them. God gave me an angel for a long time.

I told them, "Go ahead. Praise and glorify the Lord! I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers and wish them well." But Gloria not only said they are going, she asked me if I could help. I said, "How can I help? You can see that I am using a walker and becoming less mobilized." She said, "You can do anything, you can tell stories! I'll give you some discs."

I can only see what I cannot do. Should we enjoy God's love, God's unconditional love and then kept to ourselves? If we can only see what we cannot do, we won't go anywhere. Gloria said the children are so adorable! I imagined yes I feel sympathy towards them, but how can they be adorable? They are blind, orphaned and disabled. How can they be adorable? Gloria said, "You should just see them, when you see them, you will understand."

This July I went to see them. Indeed, they were beautiful and adorable. Their faces are like rainbow. Have you ever seen a rainbow? But you have not seen the most beautiful rainbow. They are the most beautiful rainbow. Through the work of Rainbow Missions, I can see how beautiful they are. Their smiles bring out their joy even though the difficulties and the struggles exist. Rainbow Missions help support them and their families. They help their families get the resources and education to help them get a job. They are still in the healing process.

Though they still live in difficulties, but after they have experienced the love of Christ, you can see the rainbow! You can witness the rainbow on their faces. They are the fruit of Rainbow Missions' work. I am very thankful before I can only see what I cannot do, but over there I learned that everyone there is responsible for taking care of themselves. What I CAN do is hug them, because everybody needs a hug. When I hug them, we are very happy. We interact through love.

I went to visit the place where they eat their meals. They asked me to eat with them. I told them, "That's fine, I can eat anything." I realized it's definitely worthwhile to witness and share a meal with them. Some of the disabled children needs help to be fed, but some who can take care of themselves takes care of themselves from start to finish. Because they love to talk and sing, they were asked to sing a song to me.

I don't know how many of you can sing the song, "The Sun Above The Clouds". They loved this song! So do I! It's a very uplifting song to remind us that though we see all around us are clouds there is the sun above it all. They not only can sing the song but they used hand gestures to act out the song. Though they can't move around conveniently and they may spill food around, they are so happy and there is so much joy! I thought the workers would have to clean up after them, but no, the children clean up after themselves. They cleaned very neatly, and even washed their own dishes at the sink and put away their dishes. Instead of teaching them to passively ask others to help them, they teach them how to survive by themselves.

They asked me to join their prayer group. Not pray for them, but join their prayer group. I understand beginning to pray is not easy. I didn't know what to pray for when I started praying. When we bow our heads, I heard a small voice speaking with clarity in praise for the Lord. Their size is much smaller than us, but their voices are so genuine and innocent. They praised the Lord, they prayed for their country, their school, their family, and lastly for themselves they thank God with thanksgiving and praise. I am so touched! They strive to pray one by one. They spoke from the heart. I know we are supposed to close our eyes, but I couldn't, I wanted to see how they prayed. When I opened my eyes I couldn't see anything, because I was so touched I was flooded with tears.

God loves each one of us. He loves us when we are sinners. When He loves us, we have the responsibility to spread His love. Many of you are like me, we look to ourselves and see what we cannot do. Don't look at ourselves, look at what God can do. Five loaves of bread and two fish fed thousands of people. Today Rainbow Missions' work is giving of themselves that five loves and two fish. Then Jesus showed his power and showed that nothing is impossible. Many underprivileged children that were forgotten, now is remembered in our hearts. Thank you.
