From Our Volunteers
Yammie
Because I heard too many negative things about China, I must admit that I was not that patriotic even though I was born there. Neither have I thought about serving the country. After I became a Christian, I got to know Rainbow Missions through two close friends. They told me how different RM's sponsorship program
was, and indeed, it was unique. With some struggles, I finally became a sponsor. Why struggle? I was not sure if I could handle taking care of another child spiritually and mentally besides my son. RM's sponsorship requires personal relationship building with the child through writing, visiting, and most importantly praying.
God brought me to China through my sponsored child, and to serve in this place. I did not have much to give, indeed. I am not a teacher, but I taught English when I was there. I did not have any professional training, but I had the opportunity to work with disabled children. With God's grace, I got through all these hurdles. In return, I had taken back with me more than I ever imagined.
